Laura Alary, Christian Education Coordinator
Laura has submitted her resignation, about which you can read more. The Education and Nurture Committee will meet shortly to discuss next steps for our Christian Education programme.
Laura grew up in Halifax and studied Classics at Dalhousie University before moving to Toronto to attend Knox College. She has an M.Div. from Knox and a Ph.D. in New Testament from The University of St. Michael’s College. Laura has been involved in education in several Presbyterian congregations, and has been the Christian Education Coordinator at GCPC since 2013. She is also a writer of books for children, including the award-winning Read, Wonder, Listen: Stories from the Bible for Young Readers.
Rachelle Risling, Music Director
A native of Saskatchewan, Rachelle holds an Associate (ARCT) from The Royal Conservatory of Music, a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Music in Piano Chamber Music from the University of Toronto. She studied with the renowned pianist Marietta Orlov and William Aide in Toronto. Rachelle currently maintains a busy private teaching studio in Oakville. She has been the Music Director at GCPC since 2014.
Revs. Helen and Bob Smith, Interim Moderators
Helen grew up in Toronto, and Bob in Cambridge (Galt) Ontario. They both studied at Knox College in Toronto and were married during that time. They served churches in Edmonton, Chatham ON, Thornhill ON and Calgary. They served in joint ministries for much of that time, and in separate churches as well. Helen also spent time in inner city ministry in Toronto and Calgary. They are both retired and living now in Scarborough, and are part of the Guildwood Community Presbyterian Church family. Helen and Bob have three children and a granddaughter, who all live in Ontario, and have been Interim Moderators at GCPC since the Fall of 2019.
Lisa Milroy, Office Administrator
Lisa has worked for Guildwood Community Presbyterian Church since April of 2011. She enjoys being part of the church family and is very grateful for the opportunity to work within her community in such a rewarding capacity.
