The war in Syria has affected millions of people. Many refugees from Syria have found new homes around the world, but many refugees living in camps are still waiting for relocation, or may never be able to find a new home. For this reason, Guildwood Church has committed
to raise $20,000 to support the work of Presbyterian World Service & Development as they provide relief to those living in camps in Jordan and Lebanon.
PWS&D is responding to this emergency through the ACT Alliance and Canadian Foodgrains Bank to support people in the region who are in desperate need.
Together, we are providing basic food items such as rice, chickpeas, pasta and oil, hygiene kits, shelter, clothing and essential non-food items. Program staff on the ground are providing psychosocial, medical and educational support for children and youth living in refugee camps.
We ask you to support this initiative:
* put some extra money in your offering envelope and mark that amount “Refugee Support”
* on-line donations at canadahelps.org using a search for Guildwood Church
* send or drop off a cheque made payable to “Guildwood Community Presbyterian Church”, with “Refugee Support” marked on the memo line
* drop off cash — office hours 9am- 1 pm.
